Fundación Trípido received a special mention in the 2024 edition of the Graciela Fernández Meijide Award for the defense of Human Rights.
The Trípido Foundation works tirelessly to raise awareness about police abuse and violence against the Colombian civil society, and its origins date back to 2011, when teenager Diego Felipe Becerra Lizarazo was murdered by a member of the National Police. Presented to the press as a dangerous criminal, the truth soon came out: Diego Felipe was a graffiti artist who signed himself as Trípido. The police tried to cover up the truth by providing false evidence and buying witnesses. Since then, his parents have fought for justice and to expose the tragedy and shame that police impunity entails.
Gustavo Trejo and Liliana Lizarazo are the soul of Trípido, and develop their daily work in a constant context of threats to their lives. Gustavo Trejo thanked CADAL for this important and necessary recognition.
